4 Ways To Fix A Damaged Windshield

Alright, so you didn’t read our last blog post on how to prevent your car windows from breaking. Sorry about your broken windshield, bro. However, never fear… the writers at WinGuard are here! (ugh, lame) So you’ve chipped, scratched, cracked, or shattered your windshield… it’s all good because here are a few ways you can get that glass back in action.

1. Man, I chipped my window šŸ™

Bullseye!

I am guessing you’ve got a nice big “bullseye” in a very inconvenient spot. Do you need to get a full replacement? Heck no! Stop at your local auto parts store and they should carry a windshield repair kit. It comes with a fancy, magical resin that fills in the chip and leaves it looking fresh. If you can’t find one locally, hop on over to Amazon and order one. While these kits are typically a temporary fix, it can still provide a remedy for your chipped windshield.

2. I’ve got a big crackĀ

Big Crack, hmm?

So you’ve got a big crack eh? Sounds like a personal problem to me…. Anyways… A crack in your windshield is a bit more difficult to repair. Also, police officers are a little less lenient with a big crack right through your line of sight. The obvious solution (depending on how bad) is to get your windshield replaced. However, there are several companies that offer a crack repair kit (no, I am not talking about rehab). I would not recommend trying to repair anything over a few inches long.

3.Ā My windshield is TOAST!

You skipped the minor damages and went straight for theĀ total annihilation of your windshield. Kudos to you for the effort! I wish that I could say there was some sort of magical sham-wow that will wipe your shattered window clean…. but there’s not. At this point, your only option is to replace the windshield. You could try to salvage one from the junk yard and do it yourself, but that is a huge hassle. Why not call a repair shop? As mentioned in several posts, I live in the broken windshield capitol of the U.S.A. (aka Colorado). When I needed a windshield replacement in Colorado Springs, I went with a company called Springs Car Glass Repair. These guys were legit! They came out to my vehicle and did it all right there on the spot. I didn’t have to mess with any repair kits or try to replace it on my own. It’s worth a shot to call your local windshield repair service to get a quote!
