Tablet Wars: What Will The Outcome Be

Other great technological manufacturers are not sitting idle either. Toshiba of Japan has delivered its 10.1-inch tablet PC Folio 100 at the same event in Berlin. The tablet is also running Android Froyo as Gingerbread is not ready yet but due to its extra size (10.1" 1024600 display) is going to lose the Android market, which is really a sad outcome. Some other technical characteristics are Bluetooth and 3G connectivity, a front facing camera for teleconferencing and possible video calls and (finally!!!) a USB host input which can not but encourage lots of users. All that is powered by Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, which is dual-core and quite promising. The overall technical composition looks almost awesome but the fact that Toshiba will have to build its own app market is rather doubtful. However there are some chances that most current Android apps can be easily tweaked to suit a bigger display.

Both launches are good examples of the upcoming tendency. There are more and more tablet devices appearing at the market as real devices or in a form of the projects which are yet to be realized. But more and more people keep on asking what the major criterion for their success is, which device will be a success and which is doomed to fail. Most analysts closely watching and analyzing the market are sure that the success result depends on amount and kind of content available for the gadget. So, the content should be varied, multiple and high-quality, while the device performance is of much lower importance.

Moreover, experts feel inclined to compare and correlate a company's success in the tablet market with that in a smart TV industry. So, it is number and diversity of applications that manufacturers should care about not some extra functionality. Apple has already had a hand in the area possessing most parts of apps built by third-party developers both for the iPhone and the iPad.

However if one takes into consideration the number of tablets which are going to be released on the Android OS, it becomes clear that the Android app base and the demand for more unique apps has to increase immensely to the ultimate happiness of both Android users and Android developers. So, the situation at the tablet market seems to double that at the smartphone one, when it possible to define the iPhone and a range of Android phones and the popularity of the latter is rising.
